Computer training for the elderly or disadvantaged
As part of my social responsibility to the local community of Harrow, west London, I carryout personalised computer training for the elderly or disadvantaged.
For the elderly or disadvantaged in our society, being computer literate makes them independent and truly transforms their lives. Yet, this is the exact group in our society that are the least computer literate and therefore have the least opportunities open to them.
I offer my training on a totally voluntary and a one-to-one basis in the home of the person I train. There is no cost to the recipient and I supply all the course notes. My course is tailored to the individuals needs and usually lasts for 20 hours over 10 weeks. The topics that I can cover are from the following:
- Computer usage
- File management
- Word processing
- Excel
- Internet
- E-commerce
- E-banking
- Social networking tools e.g. Twitter, My Space, Face Book, Yahoo
- Skype
- Podcasts
- Downloading documents and music
- Chatrooms
- Newsgroups
- Catch-up TV such as the BBC iPlayer
